BIRTHDAYS & BLUEBONNETS
The month of April at our house is all about birthdays and bluebonnets! We are blessed in our family to celebrate 4 of us ladies
in the month of April. Pretty Kaylee kicks it off on April 2, Amber follows on April 3, Chrissy's is April 9 and mine is April 17. This
year I am treating us all to a special birthday lunch at Rise, a French Salon de Souffle eatery known for their very tasty and
unique souffles, including dessert souffles!
From the time Chrissy was a young girl, she began to ask me when her birthday would finally get here. I quickly responded,
“when you start seeing bluebonnets then your birthday will soon follow.” Well, my very bright and very pretty
young daughter decided to claim the entire time that bluebonnets were in bloom! So, April is basically “her” birthday!
Yikes! This tradition has continued throughout the years with each of us trying to be the first to spot bluebonnets each year.
Chrissy and I will be taking a mother-daughter birthday trip this year to the beautiful TX Hill Country to see bluebonnets, wildflowers,
and other sights along the way. We will spend the weekend in the neat German town of Fredericksburg and visit Luckenbach,
The LBJ Ranch and other sights. Stay tuned, as I will report back in May with photos and stories to share about our trip.
A funny story about bluebonnets and our quest to find the best crop! One year Chrissy, Gary and I decided to drive around the
area in search of bluebonnets. I googled some options and we decided to travel about 30 miles away to Ennis, TX, known for
their fields of bluebonnets. I found the directions to the Blue Bonnet Park, which sounded beautiful and promising. As we entered
the area, all eyes gazing out the window of the car in anticipation of what we might see, the directions lead us right into the entrance
of the Blue Bonnet Trailer Park! Ha! There we no bluebonnets to be found there. After we all had a good laugh, we rerouted our
search and did indeed end up on a road with fields and fields of beautiful bluebonnets!
Bluebonnets also remind me of Jason. I sure do miss my handsome nephew! He fondly called them “Smurfs”. I love that!
My favorite photo of bluebonnets is one that Jason shot and I keep it on the wallpaper of my phone throughout the month of April!
SPRING BREAK ADVANTAGE with the GRANDS!
During Spring Break this month, I took advantage of the opportunity to have lunch dates with each of my amazing grands.
It's such a great way to catch up on how they are doing and what they are up to these days. Now that they are all
teenagers and young adults, it's such a treat for this Nana to spend 1-on-1 time with each of them. Here's the scoop:
JACK ROCKS!
Jack has been employed for the past 4 years at
Peace, Love & Little Donuts where he has held the position of manager
for the past 2 years.
Jack started a 2nd job at
Summit Climbing, Yoga and Fitness about 4 months ago.
Summit Climbing is a top-rope, lead
climbing and bouldering facility located in Grapevine, TX. The gym has approximately 6,000 square feet of 32-foot top-rope
and lead climbing walls and approximately 2,000 square feet of bouldering plus an in-house yoga studio with regular classes.
See if you can spot Jack at the top of the wall in 1 of the photos below.
Another exciting piece of news is that Jack was accepted to attend
The Kings University (Gateway Church) where he will pursue
his degree in education and Christian counseling.
The King's University (TKU) is an accredited, Spirit-empowered, evangelical
university located in Southlake, Texas.
TKU offers students a complete educational experience by combining higher education

Carter Finishes Strong!
Carter will soon be graduating from Carrol High School, Southlake, TX and we look forward to seeing him walk the stage toward
the end of May. He is considering his options for life after high school so stay tuned for more details. Carter has been employed
by

stocker very soon.
